    How to minimize phone line using time with PPPoE

    Existing Scenario: We have two exchange servers (S1 and S2) in two different locations. S2 is member server.  PPPoE is configured on both servers for sending/receiving over dialup connection. Mail flow is like:

                                     Internet     <->             S1             <->        S2

                                                               Receive call from S2                    Call to S1

    So, phone line is always busy.

    Problem: How can we disconnected automatically dialup connection after every 30mins (or 1/2/3.. hour later) and again automatically connected after 30mins (or 1/2/3.. hour later).

    Our main purpose is to minimize the use of phone line.

    Waiting for reply….

    Hello  Safwat

    I don't know how  your S2 server is configured  to get access the exchage on S1 server. Anyway  According to your scenario  may be you need to Configure the Routing and Remote Access Service and Demand-Dial Interfaces.

    To know demand Dial  and how to configure please visit the links bellow

    http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/a11d2b51-2378-4014-a095-0021acdfe1461033.mspx?mfr=true

    http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/16a05f4e-24ab-40d6-acd9-e3e26fbeef311033.mspx?mfr=true

    NB:- If you configure demand dial then your your exchange on S2 server has to be configure to relay to exchange on S1 server.(DNS  will keep your phone line busy ). and you have to allow relay from S2 in S1 server.
